ABRUZZO ITALY – Nonna Pasta Masterclass & Italian Food Feast

The first day of this 8-day experience is very likely the most important. It’s a day to get away from it all and connect after arriving to home base in Pescara, at the hotel by the beach. With a surprised visit from Nonna received with welcoming arms, it’s time for her to share what she does best, passing on her simple pasta making techniques to the group which have been built up over of decades of practice. While the group bonds and giggles, a very significant moment in time is had. Nonna’s traditions have been passed on, and everyone has had a chance to switch off, reconnect and of course, eat a great welcome spread of homemade, local antipasti.

After a pitstop to the hotel, everyone is then welcomed with arms wife open once again at Nonna’s house, out front on a long communal table, where many a feast has been had. From the welcome Prosecco and homemade prosciutto to the endless strings of rustic chitarra pasta and mini meat balls, everyones mouths are watering and a true family dinner is enjoyed. Naturally traditional Abruzzese arrosticoni (mutton skewers) are served as a second (or third!) course before Vincenzo’s homemade tiramisu and fresh seasonal fruit. It’s official, the group is now a part of the family and we wouldn’t have it any, other way. The only question that remains is what is in store for Day 2….
